Downtime Tommorrow or Friday

I have new parts due to be delivered on Thursday or Friday. As soon as the Fedex man delivers them I will take the site down. I will be retiring the faithful IBM 486 that served so well as firewall, gateway and mail server. I have been patching this for about 6 months now and needed to replace it.

For anyone that uses the seti@home cache server it will also be down. In fact the whole network will be down until the new box is built and in place. I have everything laid out so it shouldn't take me more than an hour or 2 to get the site back up. All I'll have to do is put the processor on the board, put in the harddrives and load the OS.

I can't give an accurate time because I don't know when the parts will arrive. Tracking shows them on the way to Chicago O'Hare airport so I'm thinking they will be here sometime tomorrow morning.

The motherboard, processor, scsi drives and the rest of the hardware is enroute to here. Should be here anytime now. After it arrives I have to run to the local computer hardware store and pick up a scsi controller. Switching from ide to scsi. I estimate to be closing down at 6:00PM CST.

I'm going to try and keep the forum up. I'll throw an extra network card in the server and use it as the gateway. I will lose the firewall but the site will only be down for a minute while I unplug the gateway and plug direct to server. The seti@home cache server will however be down. I don't have another network card to use to connect it.
So anyone trying to get a WU in the next couple hours will have to wait until I get everything back to normal. Your seti client will attempt to connect until the server is back up and when it comes back up you'll get the WU.

Update complete. All servers back up and operational. If you get any DNS errors or any other problems pop up please let me know. I'm burning in the processor so some things might slow down at times.
