Capturing output from a telnet-ish window

Ok, basically, I want to capture lines of text being output in another application altogether, and then be able send something back. The other application is a telnet window, specifically, zMUD -- a tool for playing MUD/MUSH games -- so sending something directly to the MUD (over the telnet connection) would be ideal.
