is there a way to make a form translucent without setting the opacity, by having the opacity on, it makes all the controls translucent too, i was looking to try and remake the vista aero type style with a translucent glass part of the form while retaining full opaque controls. thx in advance...

this feature is implemented using the SetLayeredWindowAttributes (http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/winui/winui/windowsuserinterface/windowing/windows/windowreference/windowfunctions/setlayeredwindowattributes.asp) api function.
As this underlying function does not seem to support your desired effect either, the only way will be to capture the background of the form, apply the desired effect using paint function and set the created bitmap as background of the form.
Seems not like a workable solution either.
