Please Help Me. How come when I load a bitmap as the form's background, the gradiations (like when I use a linear fill) suddendly becomes obvious and the picture distorted? The bitmap looks perfect on my Grpahic editor (Corel). How can I make the picure look neater in VB?

Thanks!

I have had this happen a few times. I think it is something to do with the number of colors used in the picture, and the number of colors used by your system.

The best way to fix this is to set the "Palette" property of the form. Usually you just select your bitmap for this property and it will create a compatible palette for your form.

If this doesn't work, reply and I'll see if I can help you out.

Thanks for replying.

It didn't work. I've also tried tinkering with the "palette modes" still nothing. What else can I Do? Thanks!

Greetings!

Heres a solution told to me, Use a bitmap that has no more than 256 colors. I converted my High Color Bitmap by using a "floyd-steinberg" compression algorithm in Corel Photopaint, and it looked very similar. (It had a little Hue shift, but could be corrected easily)

Now the gradiations aren't obvious.
Good Day!
