Ok, I've implemented some movement through space.

Currently, the main ship is tumbling through space, without power. This is just to give you an idea of what actual flying through space will look like. Please take a look, and don't forget to hit that F key and report what your frame rate is.

Enjoy!

i got about 53 for my frame rate

The ship can now fly under its own power.

Use the same keys as before (up to thrust, left/right to turn).

Sorry I couldn't do more--we're getting ready to go to a trade show down in Orlando tomorrow. I won't be back until Monday.

Enjoy!

Wow... can't believe that this thread still exists. I started it more than three years ago.

Gosh... where has the time gone? I've now moved to Southern California, and I'm working at SuperVillain Studios (www.svsgames.com) as a game programmer.

Unfortunately, I've completely switched over to programming in C++. I haven't touched VB game programming for nearly 2.5 years. (Don't hate me!)

I still really love this game, and I want to put together a little demo for my bosses here to see if maybe we could get this one slated for pro development. ;)

At any rate, glad to see this thread still exists!

Our company, SuperVillain Studios (http://www.svsgames.com), is looking into making some flash games that we can post on the internet for people to play. The bosses were asking for ideas on what kind of games to make, and I suggested Sectors.

Well, the company owners took a look at the 2D version this morning, and they all really like what they see, so there's a really good chance that Sectors will be published! Unfortunately, not in VB. So now, I'm working on learning Flash, to see if I can duplicate what I did here.

Geez, brings back a lot of memories re-reading this thread.
