While installing a package made with the VB6 deployment wizard I get an error "MSJRO.DLL could not be registered". (The DLL is included to allow compaction of an Access2000 database.) Target OS is W2K. Any suggestion is welcome. If you don't know where you are going, you will wind up somewhere else. (Yogi Berra)

Have you tried unregistering it first with regsvr32 /u?. Just a thought - I hope it helps!:-\

I think msjro.dll is part of ADO. It should already be on your w2k machine (i think) look in folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\ADO. In this case you will not want to register it as it is a system dll. Should it be in the deployment package?

Thanks for the answers. My package is not exclusively for W2K. Do you suggest I make different installs for W2K and W9x?

Yes this could be the answer. I have no idea if the dll is present on Win9x machines as we run W2k. It may be best to create the package without the dll to see if it installs. We have had a few problems with dlls and would like to hear what solution you come to.

good luck

Specifically to gallicus

Since you asked for my solution, here it is belatedly:
MSJRO.DLL is part of MDAC26, (which is part of my install) and should not have been included separetly again.

Thanks for your interest

Pete
