Is there a way to logout a locked XP/2000 computer via a program?
I posted THIS (http://www.xtremevbtalk.com/showthread.php?t=291736), a program that logs out a user, but it only works when the computer is unlocked.
Anyone have any ideas?

I think the idea of locking a computer is to stop people using it or logging you off. Can you do anyhting else? I think windows domains have a policy to prevent users from locking a PC in the first place

I am one of the domain Admins for a hospital. The problem is that we have HIPAA act policies that state that computers must auto-lock if the user walks away for x amount of time. Well sometimes when second shift arrives and first shift leaves they don't log out they just walk away. Well the computer locks and the only way to unlock a locked computer is to have an Administrator or the locking user authenticate. This is a headache when every day at 5:01 IT gets 10 calls that their computer is locked. And the other user has gone home. Giving the users administrator rights is also definitely not an option.
So question still stands is there any way to unlock a computer via a program?

I dont think so. You (or someone) should be educating the users to logoff. The place where i used to work until today had the same thing. Leave your PC for 10 mins and it locks itself. We just used to cut the power. I know thats bad but it works. In the past year though ive told everyone who has used the PCs to make sure they log off and it seems to be working. IF the people at that place can learn then anyone can

Yeah we've done that too, It's in the employee handbook, in their monthly IT training, and every time we've had to unlock a PC, that user hears about it the next day. We still receive calls, not as many but they are still there.

It would seem that a service pack may cure the issue. This Q article seems to be completely on topic.

Thanks for finding that. The computers are up to date on service packs but I never thought to try EWX_FORCE, I was using EWX_LOGOFF. I'll play with that and see what happens.
Edit
I tried with the EWX_FORCE and the program now works fine. It will log out a locked computer now.
