When You People make sprite. how do you make them. do you draw them with that painting thing. (if you do it that way do you do it by making the sprite one large picture with the different movements or do you do a picture then do the next part on a new paint thing. thanx.

Personally I have done it both ways... I use Paint Shop Pro to make the sprites, or at least the ones I have done so far...

I actually purchased PaintShop Pro, but am overwhelmed with its features (I STILL don't know how to draw stupid simple lines!). Anyone know of a website with good tutorials on using PaintShop pro, particularly for bitmap files for sprite creation?

I love PSP... Once you get the knack for it you will too... Here is one tutorial... It is pretty good...

If I can help just let me know...

Very cool, thanks for the link! Do you know of any tutorials that show you how to easily use PSP to design sprites (16x16, 32x32, etc) and animated sprites? That's primarily why I bought PSP, to design graphics for a game I've started working on, but I need something like an Icon editor (large version of the sprite on one side, actual size on the other, and the ability to chain sprites together to form an animated sequence).

It's better to burn out than to fade away!

I can't draw my way out of a paper bag, but I do like to use PSP for image conversion and editting.

When I need to make sprites, I use a freebie program like DoGA CGA (http://www.doga.co.jp) to build the model(s) and then use screen captures to get the poses. DoGA is real easy to use and has key framing so I can do things like running sequences or transformations one frame at a time for sprite creation. FYI, DoGA L2 is shareware, but you only really need to register if you want to make AVI movies (also good for game 'cut scenes') or just to reward the authors.
