Directshow and 256kbps mp3

I cant seem to get directshow to play 256k mp3 files any ideas?

It should play just about anything and it's free for non-commercial use.

Fmod wont play 256kbps mp3 either. I think its based on WMP ocx, its also really slow at loading a playlist.

DirectShow will play any MP3 up to 320kbps CBR. I don't know about VBR's though, I don't have any with an average bitrate that high. The highest one I have is 141kbps VBR and it plays fine.

I'd try to convert it to a lower rate, or even a different rate. But your problem is most likely in your MP3 file itself. See if WMP will play it, DirectShow and WMP use the same codec for MP3s. If it plays, use WMP instead of DirectShow.

Yea, it wont play in WMP at all, but it will play in winamp.
