I am having problem with script time out error. I am working on an ASP application where the VB script executes a method of another VB dll. If the method takes longer to exucute ( about 10 minutes), the asp application is aborting with script time out error. I tried changing the script time out time to 3600 seconds both on the web ( with Internet Service Manager) and defining in the asp page with server.scripttimeout=3600. But it doesn't see to be making any difference. Still I get the time out error after 5 minutes or so. Does anybody know, what the problem could be? Thanks.

Is the timeout strictly on the server, or is it in the client browser?

The script time out is defined as how long ASP will wait allowing the script to execute before sending error back to the browser.

I guess what I meant was, where are you seeing the timeout
error. It sounds like you are saying the browser is receiving the
timeout error from the server, but the browser starts the process
by submitting a request for a particular ASP page, and sits there
waiting for some kind of response, so I thought it might be that
the browser is actually timing out waiting for the response.

Looks like the message is coming from the server.
