winsock EVENTS??

If I use a winsock reference like "public withevents MyWinSock as winsock" instead of using a winsock control, events doesn't work correctly (Using the WINSOCK CONTROL there is no problem). hOW CAN i USE EVETNS WITHOUT USING A WINSOCK CONTROL and only using a Winsock reference?
