Connecting Access to VB

I am trying to connect an Access database to Visual Basic and the computer tell's "Unrecogized database format".
Is there certain format in Access to use for VB? or something i can change

sounds like you may be trying to open an access 2000 database with 3.51 provider - you need 4.0
