Sending audio thru micophone channel

Does any have an example of how to send a .wav file through the microphone channel? (or at least another way of accomplishing the situation I've described below)

Situation:
I have a vb app that allows communication over a lan network. While I'm speaking into the mic, I have a need to transmit an audio sound bite to the other person as well.

I'm looking for a piece of code that would allow me to transmit that sound bite, prior to ending the transmission.

You will not be able to send a .wav file through the microphone channel. The microphone is an input to the computer and as such I suspect that your real question (and thing to search for) is this:

"How do I capture microphone input audio to a .wav file?"

Or

"How do I directly capture microphone input audio to a VB program?"
