Since my Hard Drive crashed i am forced to buy VB before i had planned to. Now i need to know if the game i programmed in Vb5 will transfer without any problem to Vb6??? I am using Dx7 DirectDraw to program it. it is a tile rpg. And would it be ok to buy the cheap learners edition? would it have everything i need to program the game and let me be able to make an executable of it????
Thanks

I don't know your specific situation, but if by chance you were a student, you can buy the academic professional version for quite reasonable... I personally have not used the learning edition so I can't help there... As for your program transferring, I don't believe you should have any trouble there... I have taken many programs from VB4 to 5 to 6... But then I am not familiar with all of your code either...

I have (or should I say I am stuck with) VB 6 Learning Edition.
If all you plan on doing is make .EXE's then it will work fine.
You shouldn't have any problem transfering it from VB 5 to 6.
If you want you could always download the free version of VB5 at Microsofts website which will let you make .EXE's and .OCX's.
Or you could find a friend or associate that has it and "borrow" it for a day...
Good Luck

Thanks for taking the time to write me a reply so quickly :). I am a student at a Vocational school regarding programming. Getting a student version is a very good idea i will have to look into that.
Hey.
Transferring files from any version of vb to vb6 is just a simple matter of opening up the files in visual basic 6, it will notify you that the files were made in a previous version of vb and will tell you that the next time you save the files they will be saved as visual basic 6 files.
I believe that when using the learners edition you cannot compile your projects, i may however be mistaken.
Hope i have helped.

You can compile your projects.
I use it and I compile mine all the time.
