Does Any one know how to build a web server for hosting web sites and such? or where to find info on how to do it

This is what I found so far but would prefer not to use Win98(do not own a copy of it)PcMECH (http://www.pcmech.com/byos/)

Hope fully we will be getting DSL at my house soon.

A webserver is just a computer.
Most webservers either run Linux or Windows NT.

To put it simple, a Server is just a computer providing a some form of service to clients.

To run a webserver, get a machine, install the HTTP server and there ya go. You have a webserver.

But you have to consider the traffic of your site. If it's a very busy site, you need a high end machine to handle the load.

Personally, I'd recommend that you use Apache - the rest of the web does. www.apache.org

the rest of the web does
That's because IIS can't be run on Unix, the "other" OS. ;)
