VB Interacting With Adobe Photoshop

I was wondering if anyone knows how (or knows if it is possible) to have VB communicate with Adobe Photoshop. In order to answer this question, you must be at least a little familiar with both of these programs. In Adobe Photoshop, you can have a number of different layers, one of which is a text layer. Ultimately, I would like the user to input a name (for example) into a text field, and when they click a command button, the text in that text field transfers onto a specific layer in Photoshop. I have tried many different ways of doing this, ranging from finding the handle of the layer to positioning the mouse over the layer, but somehow, I just cannot seem to have Visual Basic communicate with Adobe Photoshop. If anyone has ANY information that might help me with this problem, I would be very grateful. Thanks again!
