Progress bar

Does anyone know how to implement a progress bar within a splash screen. For example if the splash screen lasts for 5 seconds the progress bar shows the system loading.

what i do, is as i load specific things, i set the progress bar to a certain value, this may not totally animate it, but it's good enough for me so...
