Wise_Reeper 12-15-2002, 11:12 AM Originally I used reaper for my saved game files while playing Madden Football on the N64. My mom thought reaper was too demonic so I changed the saved games to reeper. Then one day I was trying to obtain a hotmail account and I use reeper but someone already had that name so I thought "How can I always have a unique name?" and I added wise_ to the beginning of reeper. The reason I chose reaper to begin with is just because of some fascination with death. I do not think of death all the time or anything and I do not want to die or any such strange things. I just believe that what all our lives amount to is deleted in death. I am not mad about this. I think that the idea is liberating. I try to be the best person now so that I might be remembered but I also know that if I mess up on something it is not that big of a deal. In death we are all free.
I chose my avatar because I am a big Street Fighter 2 fan. The character is Blanka a child that was lost in the Brazilian jungles after a plane crash. He was raised by the animals of the forest and taught to use electricity attacks by electric eels. I love that game. My brother and I used to play it all the time. I have even taken screenshots and made animations of the game to put on a website that never was. If anyone else is interested in making a Street Fighter 2 Tribute page let me know.
That is the history of my avatar and name. What is your history?
Volte 12-15-2002, 11:18 AM I created my avatar in Photoshop the other day, just for the fun of
it. My name comes from an old computer game called Commander
Keen 5 from id Software. Check out www.idsoftware.com's vintage
section for info about it.
Wise_Reeper 12-15-2002, 11:22 AM That game was awesome! Where does VolteFace come in though? I can't remember everything about the game and id's website doesn't have Commander Keen 5.
Volte 12-15-2002, 11:24 AM VolteFace is the name of one of the creatures from Keen 5. It's actually
Volte-Face with a hyphen, but I dropped it because lots of message
boards don't like - in usernames.
Here is an excellent Keen site: www.classicgaming.com/cc314
Gamer X 12-15-2002, 12:16 PM I chose the name "Gamer X", based upon a radio show from long ago - "The Man Called 'X'". That was, by far, my favorite radio show, and I like the idea of 'X' standing for 'Unknown/Mysterious'.
I chose the "Gamer" part, rather because I was an avid gamer at the time, and "Gamer X" sort of sounds better than "Coder X" or something.
I didn't make up "Gamer X" strictly for this forum, I've had it for a while. I even have a friend who insisted on calling me "Gamer X" in real life . . . ! For some reason, he's started calling himself "Gamer Z" :-\
I chose Ryo-Ohki (http://www.buncha-network.com/Anime/tenchimuyo/ryoohki/) as my avatar, basically because she is the embodiment of my online personality -- a sort of fantasy-self, if you will. She is cute and fun-loving, but capable of many hidden powers.
Arigato,
Gamer X
Banjo 12-15-2002, 12:31 PM For the uninitiated, Ryo-Ohki is a weird rabbit/donkey hybrid ;)
* Banjo hides from GamerX
Wise_Reeper 12-15-2002, 12:35 PM Thank you Banjo I would have never guessed. So tell me what is your story?
Gamer X 12-15-2002, 01:02 PM Raimeiken Ninotachi!
Ales Zigon 12-15-2002, 01:28 PM Mine simply comes from my name: Zigon Ales = zigona. As simple as that.
I've found my avatar somewhere (web maybe?) long time ago and I instantly fell in love with it. It just shows what I think of computer from time to time (especially when they do something I don't want or didn't thell them to do).
Spike 12-15-2002, 01:29 PM Hmm...this is an easy one.
Name: Nickname in real life
Avatar: Lead singer of my favorite band Slipknot
vbfan 12-15-2002, 02:18 PM My Nickname comes from vb = VisualBasic and fan = fan. The dog on the avatar is my dog. The picture was shoot when he was 6 weeks old now he is 3 years old. She is female, we called she DAISY. The avatar is a tribut to my dog.
Wise_Reeper 12-15-2002, 02:34 PM She is pretty cute. How is she now?
vbfan 12-15-2002, 02:41 PM Now she sleep in the bed of my adults.
tomorrow i post the latest picture of my dog.:D
excaliber 12-15-2002, 02:58 PM Excaliber...I first wanted my nick to be Merlin, but it was taken. Next logical step was the sword.
Avatar...Drew it up one lonley day in history class...pen and ink on paper.
Wise_Reeper 12-15-2002, 03:31 PM Do not be offended because the picture is really small but what is it?
NoteMe 12-15-2002, 04:31 PM I was a Dj in Norway for some years ago. And Took the name Dj Note. For two years ago I and two of my friends started a web page (www.KLUBBSCENEN.com it's in norwegian ;)) for fun writing about music and clubbing. Now two years later our web page is on of the biggest in Norway. And labels as Ministry of Sound are mailing us and want to collaborate....:D I took my Dj name at the forum over at our page and have used it on any forum after that (Except that at some forums it's already taken, so I add the “Me” to it...). My avatar (Flat Eric) tells you guys more about me then 1000word...so I live the rest up to your imagination...
Wise_Reeper 12-15-2002, 04:36 PM What is Flat Eric?

excaliber 12-15-2002, 04:51 PM Heres the original (actually, the original scan was 1000x1000 some pixels, i scaled it a bit :D )...its a person with a really odd helmet on...

JimCamel 12-15-2002, 05:52 PM When the game StarCraft came out many a year ago, me and my best friend spent many a boring sunday playing the shareware version over the internet. We were actually pretty good, we had about 50 wins to 7 losses or something like that. When starting a game on the internet, you needed to have a name for it, and we went through many until we came up with the name "Jim The Friendly Camel", which was after a really stupid song we'd come up with. When I finally got a connection to the net and ICQ, I went by the name Jim The Friendly Camel (and my friends followed suit with Roger The Friendly Camel etc). Eventually that just shortened down to Jim The Camel, then JimCamel. These days though I usually just go by my initials (AJ).
My avatar was created by a friend of mine who does the art for my game (www.spiritdragons.net/~aeonlegend). It's in the same style as the characters in game. He based it on a photo I sent him of myself and my girlfriend, Renee.
Machaira 12-15-2002, 06:09 PM I created my nick back in the good old days of BBS's. I needed a nick when a friend made me a sysop of the BBS he ran. I couldn't think of anything decent so I pulled out my Greek/Hebrew concordance that I use sometimes in Bible studies and started looking up various words. I finally found Machaira, which is Greek for sword.
I haven't found a decent avatar that I like yet which goes with the nick.
Wise_Reeper 12-15-2002, 06:21 PM NoteMe: I have never ever seen Flat Eric before. Maybe it was only aired in Europe. What made you think it was a big American fad?
Excalibur: I thought the picture was a person but when it is so small who can tell? It looks pretty neat though.
JimCamel: How did you create your game? It looks really awesome. Congratulations!
JimCamel 12-15-2002, 08:33 PM Flat Eric was on Levi's commericals, but I will always remember him for his performance in the music video "Flat Beat" by Mr Ozio.
As for my game it's all vb. I created it with a lot of reading and a LOT of spare time.
Iceplug 12-15-2002, 08:44 PM Iceplug - comes from the very elaborate dreams that I occasionally find myself having. The avatar is sorta what it looked like. :)
crazycheetah 12-15-2002, 09:27 PM my name... well...
OK! when i was about.. i think it was.. 8-9-10... i was literally obsessed with cheetahs... to me everything was about cheetahs (funny looking back on).. and well everyone said i was extremely insane, and crazy and all that stuff...
am i boring you yet?
well.. the name eventually came... crazycheetah.. and i never had the urge to change it due to lack of creativity for something that fits me... unless it's about a 50 letter long word/phrase...
and the avatar is just because i got annoyed not seeing an avatar there.... so i made some box in Anim8or, put the camera in the box, and there's the avatar O.o
Robby 12-15-2002, 09:35 PM Hmmm, easy enough, I was born with it.
Avatar is a piece of my logo which I altered in Photoshop.
chris00 12-15-2002, 10:21 PM Mine is simple :
Chris that my real name (doh) and I picked 00 becouse 01 and up is always used (you know some websites sugest names if you pick one that already exists, but they start with 01).
:) :D
Kashif 12-16-2002, 12:03 AM Mine is simply my Orignal names( i have used it every where bcz i dont like to use Fictitious name), and avatar is my country's flag. I use this avatar bcz i LOVE my county very very MUCH
:p :p
Robby 12-16-2002, 12:36 AM kashif, what does bcz mean? :)
JimCamel 12-16-2002, 12:49 AM I believe it's supposed to be "because".
Kashif 12-16-2002, 01:17 AM yes it is bcz = because
My Name is Muhammad Anis Ur Rehman. So Anis comes from there.
My avatar is my Picture, which explain how i look like. ;)
Pookie 12-16-2002, 02:59 AM Pookie is my real name, and that's a real pic of me... :D

Aspen2K 12-16-2002, 08:16 AM It really isn't hard to figure out the connection between my avatar and nick. Although, I have never skied at Aspen, I dream of extreme skiing there some day :) Not sure where the 2K came from.
My favorite place to ski here in the U.S. is Crested Butte. It is very close to Aspen by air, but not car. Crested Butte was in consideration for my nick, butt for some reason (pun intended), it just did not look right ;)
Aspen2K
GMan_NC 12-16-2002, 08:26 AM Well, my real name is Gene and people used to call me GMan so that's where that comes from. The GMan nick is used alot so I tacked on the NC because I live in North Carolina.
gallicus 12-16-2002, 08:49 AM 'Gallicus' is my general online presence. It is my surname 'French' translated into the dead language Latin. I have no idea why I thought of it. Too late now:-\ . As for my Avatar .... errrrr I am not very artistic:o unlike Excaliber, cool pic mate.
vbfan 12-16-2002, 10:02 AM So here are two pictures of my dog the left is my avatar and the right is one of the latest pictures of she.
My username is simply my initials, and my avatar is probably no great mystery either. Oh, and it blinks because... well... I seem to be developing a reputation for blinky-eyed avatars 'round here, and it just didn't seem right for my own not to have eyes. :D
vbfan 12-16-2002, 10:23 AM Can you for me animated that she, my dog, blinked with the eyes.
I had tried it to get but I only know to make animated .gif pictures with picture publisher.
Microsoft GIF Animator works pretty well, and it's freely downloadable from MS.
I just know somebody's gonna hate me for this... :-\
By the way, I should probably mention here since we're on the topic of avatars and animation -- flashy animated avatars can be pretty distracting, and are generally frowned on here. If you like animation, subtle is better. :)
Garrett Sever 12-16-2002, 11:01 AM * Garrett thinks of ways his avatar could be animated to express his dislike of animation (and directed at lebb)... then realizes how ironic that would be.
:p ;)
Aww, Garrett, I didn't know you cared. ;) I'm sure there's a post by you around here somewhere saying that a little animation can be a good thing...
Ahh, yes: Originally posted by Garrett Sever
But please, please, please remember: A little animation is good. ALOT OF ANIMATION = BIG-TIME BAD.
:p
Garrett Sever 12-16-2002, 11:13 AM NEVER!!! I DENY THAT ACCUSATION! :p ;)
eh. Animated eyeballs on avatars is considerably less distracting than it could be... I've seen some pretty heinous things done to avatars at a certain other site....
NoteMe 12-16-2002, 11:22 AM I don't hope you are talking about mine....:D

as Robby said, mine also is the same but the difference is that 'luchmun' is my surname and the avatar is an icon I found in my computer, process it a bit.......
Bucky 12-16-2002, 12:33 PM Bucky comes from Richard Buckminster Fuller, who was a great
inventor and visionary. He coined the term "Spaceship Earth," and
he designed the Geodesic dome (which I live in), and he did some
other really cool stuff that I can't think of at the moment.
So... Bucky is short for Buckminster. It's a little bit of a nickname in
real life, but only a few people call me it.
The avatar is a picture of the swooping tail of my dog, George,
who is telling me right now that he has to go outside.
robot313 12-16-2002, 03:39 PM Well, my nickname originated a while ago when I was choosing an email address, and I liked robots then.... so I've just used it from then on for quite a few things, here of course, MSN messenger, and other things. And I don't have an avatar so I need to get a good one :)

Deltree 12-17-2002, 06:47 PM For those who don't know, Deltree is a DOS command that deletes everything muhuhaha.
Thread was split into 2. Look for the thread "Strange Discussion" if you wish to discuss Worldly veiws.
My user name:
I first started off wanting my initials - TDB
I was too paranoid to use my initials so I thought I would reverse them to BDT but that did not flow very well. I then changed the B to a J since JDT rolled of the tounge better than BDT.
JDT was then registered.
Avatar - My dog after Lebb looked after her for me :)
noRulez 12-18-2002, 07:44 PM I have been using the user name no_rulez since I first started using computers, which was roughly 6 years ago. Most boards don't allow underscores, hence noRulez. I use no_rulez fairly consistently in every program/board/email account/etc..., however, I also go by the user name of memory_leak at times.
Oh, and I chose no_rulez merely because it sounded good. It doesn't describe me as an individual all that well. It has grown on me since, and now I think there is no escape.
As for my avatar, well...I felt too plain and simple without one so I put forth a mediocre attempt at using Paint Shop Pro, and what you see under my name is the result.
Wise_Reeper 12-18-2002, 07:58 PM What the heck is your picture? I hoped you posted in this Thread because I have never been able to understand what the picture is.
noRulez 12-18-2002, 08:05 PM I was going for the liquid metal look. Apparently I failed.
Wise_Reeper 12-18-2002, 08:08 PM Can you post a larger picture of your avatar?
noRulez 12-18-2002, 08:22 PM I could, but it would only lose clarity at a larger scale. Sorry. Maybe for christmas I'll get some motivation, and make a new one. :D
Gamer X 12-18-2002, 10:18 PM To me it looks like the arisal of a spaceship buried under centuries of dirt and rock. The lower half is the planet, the white is the spaceships propulsion (or running lights), and the upper half is the earth covering the craft. In the middle also are falling chunks of dirt/rock.

Deltree 12-18-2002, 11:22 PM Quite an imagination, eh ? :p
Garmour 12-19-2002, 02:19 AM Just my username on pretty much every computer system I've ever used. First initial, last Name
Garry Armour
The avatar is just something silly I knocked up in PSP. It'll probably change in the new year.
Gamer256 12-19-2002, 05:09 AM Gamer - guess what?
256 - highest color depth of my previous display adapter :D

SoLoGHoST 12-19-2002, 04:00 PM Just finally got an avatar, made it in flash, took no time at all.
But I'm going to experiment and hopefully come up with a much better one.

sl8rz 12-20-2002, 10:54 AM My name is from my randomly generated university email account. "sl8rz" is not too common so I use it as my user name when signing up on web-sites so I don't have to deal with those "that name is already being used" headaches.
As far as my avitar...welll...for you Tick fans out there, you know how cool the Tick cartoons were. I just wanted to do my part in preserving all things Tick.

Cogen 12-20-2002, 10:21 PM I didn't know what nick to use, and my girlfriend suggested Comgen, so I just shortened it to Cogen . Those of you who have been here for a while know that I'm *FAR* from a genius .. nevertheless, my nick stands for COmputer GENius.
My avatar is just an image that I made as a logo for my personal website (well similar, but I altered it abit for this site).
The Ghost 12-20-2002, 11:19 PM disturbed rock rez!
i chose my name from the game Ghost Recon ®
I was the best sniper out of my friends they could never see me and i think the Ghosts is a cool name for a counter terrorist squad.
I chose my pic cos i liked it not that it has anything to do with my name.
sl8rz 12-23-2002, 11:25 AM Nice Avitar noRulez .... to me it looks very much like the cheese in a pizza as you begin to pull a piece out.
Kaluriel 12-23-2002, 03:43 PM my username is very special, there is no word anywhere like it, unless i put it there.
I made it from the merged words of different languages to make up the phrase "God of the Black Winged Angels"
As for the avatar, I like Anima from FFX, best summon ever, with exception of Griever, but you can't summon that
Computer_Guy 12-24-2002, 06:33 PM Kaluriel, I use that same technique to come up with various names for things, and I thought I was alone on that :(. (In my RPG, my "airship" is called the Rionogard, which translated after a little time means "Dragon of Black" or "Black Dragon" :))
My name comes from the question I'm asked often in school "What are you, some kind of Computer Guy?" Couldn't think of too much to come up with either...
Ed
randtek 12-25-2002, 04:05 AM randtek comes from my name - Randy, and my curse - Technician. (did I type curse? I meant career!)
My avatar was intended as a little experiment. It is a picture of a popular local personality in Indana in the 1960's & 70's. I have been waiting (for several months) to see if anyone would recognize him. So far no one has commented on him, so I'll probably change to something new soon.
Note: I really don't hate my job, it's just been very tough the last few months. My company deployed an entire new software package before it was adequately tested, and the results were about as catastrophic as they could have been!
Lar_19 12-26-2002, 10:10 PM My avatar was originally a pencil drawing I'd doodled on a sketch pad some time ago, and yes, it's a self portrait. I ran across it one day and decided to scan it into my favorite graphics program, and finally sometime later got around to painting it.
My 'nick' was a result of a serious lack of imagination, and has no particular significance. Maybe someday I'll get around to changing it to something meaningful, but probably not.
fLaR3 04-01-2003, 10:06 PM My nick is because i'm a pyromaniac (sorta) nagh not really i just like fire
:D and i put the 3 there because it looks better i think and i wanna put ana avator in but i need 25 posts or wuteva so yeah!
loquin 04-02-2003, 12:07 AM nick is concatenation of first & last name.
Avatar is just because Homer makes me laugh.
Feral 04-02-2003, 01:15 AM Feral is a character from a series called "Strontium Dogs" in the British Comic 2000AD (I don't know if he's still around I haven't read it for years). It was also the name of my Cyberpunk RPG character.
The Avatar is a Yin Yang symbol as I try to follow the Taoist philosopy (rather badly) hence the quote!
Merrion 04-02-2003, 05:33 AM Merrion is the name of my company i.e. Merrion Computing Ltd (http://www.merrioncomputing.com) and my Avatar is my sadly neglected Triumph GT6 which is to remind me that sometimes you have to leave the keyboard and do other things...

The animation in your avatar is a bit unfortunate, it calls to mind rather unphilosophical thoughts.

Now you mention it, I suppose it could look a bit strange (if your mind works that way ;) ). But seriously, I hadn't thought of it like that and bearing in mind the rules on unsavory posts etc. should I change it?
Garmour 04-02-2003, 08:07 AM Deadalus, your mind must work differently from mine. All I see is a spinning yin/yang.
What do you see ????

Deadalus 04-02-2003, 09:01 AM As you see, Feral, you don't need to worry, the rest of the members aren't as twisted as I am. And our moderators are the most repectable of all. :)
LostInVB 04-02-2003, 11:52 AM My nick is a last ditch attempt to get registered, I usually go by Beaz, but too often that is taken, I started going with HugoDrX, which came from Hugo Drax, the mad business guy in Moonraker. At the time I was registering, I WAS really lost in VB, trying to get some help with VB Installer. And since I dont have enough posts, I don't have an avatar yet, but when I do, it will look like this:

Which is a representation of me. Spiky hair, big moustache and a very thin goatee. I use it elsewhere and it comes from the days when Prince changed his name and became the artist with a freaky symbol. Friends joked about it and we each came up with a freaky symbol to represent us.
Kinda dull, but hey, I came in late.

Kid isen't really my real name but its how everybody calls me since i was born > even my parents never uses my real name so i always wonder why they give me a name they never use...probably because i'm made in the late 60's...
Found my avater somewhere on the net and liked it because it's a little freaky as i am hi,hi :p

MikeJ 04-03-2003, 04:34 PM Name: MikeJ. Pulled that one out of a hat. The Mike is a nickname of mine that no one uses. (Michael = Mike) and J is one of my middle initials.
Avatar: I don't know why I picked a tree, but hey, it's better than my first one... (I forgot what my first one looked like...oh wait...space) My second one was a picture of the STS-107 mission logo... changed that about two weeks ago...
~MikeJ
Irotallic 04-04-2003, 05:31 AM My nickname is a combination of my two favorite bands: Iron Maiden and Metallica. The avatar is from the album VirtualXI of Iron Maiden.
Programming in Visual Basic and listening to Iron Maiden is a great combination :D

Chozo 04-09-2003, 04:50 PM While we're on the subject of avatars, how do I get an animated avatar?? (I dont have photoshop)
Gleek 04-09-2003, 05:16 PM Gleek... well, I was talking to someone once, and I accidentally gleeked on them, so they kept bugging me about it, and now that is how they refer to me.
Yeah, I know its sad....
HiTmAN 06-19-2003, 11:40 AM I cooked up my username when i was just getting into computers (i was about 7-8 years old), as for my avatar - I found it on a site and thought it was funny - it's my avatar on all the boards i post on.
Irotallic: I agree with the combination thing :D
2bNvUs 06-19-2003, 12:48 PM When I first started posting to forums and going to chat rooms, I always had a different nick because I couldn't think of anything cool. Until one day I saw '2bNvUs' on a car tag and thought that it was pretty cool, so I started using that. My avatar was the result of three hours of searching on the internet for a cool looking avatar and finally just settling for a 3d smiley face. Just got tired of looking.
My name is Mario. My friends call me "Mar". Those who endear me calls me "Aio" and I want you all to endear me :). And my avatar? So that you have idea whom you endear
Isn't that sweet and cool?
Antariksh 05-24-2004, 05:27 PM Iceplug - comes from the very elaborate dreams that I occasionally find myself having. The avatar is sorta what it looked like. :)
Whoops!
Iceplug, did you make the picture you used to be in dreams?
Incredible! Why is plug not Plug?
spikey_richie 10-05-2004, 05:50 AM Username - I have spikey hair and my name is Richard.
Avatar - it's Death with a kitten drawn by Josh Kirby for Terry Pratchett

as for my avatar... say it on the internet some where.. thought that it was quite fitting of... well... me, hehe
-Ziess
My name isn't the one I generally use. I had to cut off part of it because it didn't pass the bad language scrutiny this site has for account names. Now normally I don't use bad language, don't get me wrong, if you could see it in full it would (a) make sense, and (b) descibe me better than anything. But I have no intentions of breaking the rules so I won't say what it was. (even though if I did say what it was probably very few of you would know it was bad language anyway).
and of course no avatar (as of this posting anyway)
And to all mods and admins: if this sounds bad it wasn't intentional. But I have no problem with you deleting it if you do think it sounds remotely bad.
heiatufte 10-18-2004, 02:48 PM I've found my avatar somewhere (web maybe?) long time ago and I instantly fell in love with it.
I believe it origins from the built-in pictures you can add to a document in Microsoft Word...
My current avatar (a worm with blue background) comes from Worms 3D
My nick (reptile) comes from Mortal Combat 4
I'm trying to change it though, I want another nick, "heiatufte" which comes from a Norwegian commercial for lottery, hard to explain the humor if you didn't see the commercial :p
Trivium 10-19-2004, 01:28 PM Trivium is three of seven parts of a liberal arts education in the middle ages. It represents the subjects of Logic, Rhetoric, and Grammar. Three things I would consider very important as a programmer. ^_~
As for the avatar, I edited a Proxy Firewall advertisement in photoshop to create it. I just thought it was awesome. I also switch between this and some of my own photography.
LaoTzu 10-19-2004, 07:02 PM LaoTzu is the Father of Taoism (for those of you who may not know, it's a religion). It's a long story of why I use it, because I'm not a Taoist, or oriental for that matter, I'm an American Atheist.
When I get enough posts, my avatar will be one of Yoda, because he matches the name pretty well.
ashutosh9910 10-28-2004, 06:34 AM Name ashutosh9910 -

RoofRabbit 10-28-2004, 11:57 AM That game was awesome! Where does VolteFace come in though? I can't remember everything about the game and id's website doesn't have Commander Keen 5.
You know, I think I still have that one in my old floppy collection. At the time, the Commander Keen series were awesome.
Trivium 10-28-2004, 12:19 PM Commander Keen was indeed an awesome game. I wish I still had my copy.
tomc2506 10-28-2004, 12:47 PM I remember that :(, when do copyrights run out lol?
justagirl 10-29-2004, 08:23 AM My avatar is the One Ring, simply because I LOVE The Lord of the Rings! :)
KermitDFrog 10-29-2004, 09:41 AM Quenta i lambion Eldarin? Justagirl?
I noticed Hannon le, and tho I don't remember what it means, it looks like elvish...
Regardless, I have several U/n's, so I list them all now.
KermitDFrog:
Some british guy called me a frog once, so i ran with it... Hence, Kermit D Frog.
Daddeo
My sister was at one point obsessed with the 60's/70's era lingo. So She made me use that as a name.
DJ ~4694~
I saw the numbers on the back of an Auction pallet once, I needed a Pen-name for my Rave Tracks. Necessity is the mother of Invention.
DJ ~Frogman~
Derived from KermitDFrog, I use this for my less Hardcore tracks. Including, but not limited to, My Techno remix of "The Twilight Zone Theme" and "The Law and Order" theme. I use it when I do Hiphop tracks too. (Rare indeed is a hiphop track from me.)
DJ ~Just Joe~
Originated when someone asked me my name, and I replied, "I'm Joe" he's like "so your names eyemjoe." I said- "no no, JUST Joe" Hilarity ensued, Just Joe survived. I use it as a Catch all for non-sensical tracks.
justagirl 10-29-2004, 01:03 PM Hey KermitDFrog! "Hannon le" is Elvish for "Thank you". Aragorn spoke them to Legolas twice in the films. :)
By the way, your Just Joe joke was funny. :chuckle:
KermitDFrog 10-29-2004, 08:08 PM i know, i looked it up after i read it, I wouldnt suppose you speak any other elvish? or just the passing quotes from the movie.
Am I the only Language-Junky Here?
Life's lonely for Linguists...

herilane 10-30-2004, 07:14 AM Somewhat off-topic... but if you like languages, you may enjoy this: http://explorers.whyte.com/34l/default.htm
the site is down right now, it seems...
MikeJ 10-30-2004, 12:16 PM IIRC, Commander Keen has become abandonware.
Flyguy 10-30-2004, 01:25 PM Commander Keen was indeed an awesome game. I wish I still had my copy.

Oh, I know just a few Elvish, most of them just passing quotes from the films. :chuckle: But I would love to be fluent in it. Few people are. Btw, I'm a member of the Tolkien society in my country and we have a member who is an expert in Quenya and Sindarin (he writes books). It's cool to be able to ask for translations from him. :)
I too love languages (but not on the junkie level I'm afraid). I'd love to learn new ones when I have the time. Elvish, French and Spanish are on the top of my list. ;)
alt_255 11-06-2004, 07:27 PM Chozo, a very nice choice, I love the metroid series!! :D:D
KermitDFrog 11-06-2004, 07:48 PM hmm, Intresting, I myself speak very many languages (not to brag) I've invented several of my own to (ok- so 40 is more than Several, but dont get picky...)
Theres a Great book out there by Ruth S Noel on Elvish, I think its called "Languages of Tolkien's Middle Earth" Very good stuff in there, tho the dictionary is Very limited.
There also used to be a site @ ArdaLambion.com (now defunct? I think? :( ) that had all sorts of stuff on Tolkien and Elvish.
Oh- and dont bother with French, I wont get into it here, but its really not worth learning, Spanish or Italian, now those are some languages... :)

noi_max 11-08-2004, 11:57 AM Commander Keen was indeed an awesome game. I wish I still had my copy.
Did anyone ever play enough Doom2 to see the final, horrible demise of Commander Keen?
forgedsteel 11-09-2004, 03:45 AM forgedsteel = forged steel = a form of metal process for which I have always been fascinated by.
my avatar is a self-portrait. My hobby is graphic design and computer assisted artwork... need an avatar?
Trivium 11-09-2004, 08:40 AM Forgedsteel:
That avatar is a wee bit on the creepy side, but cool nonetheless, I might bug you to do an avatar for me. ^_~
ReadError 11-09-2004, 09:25 AM Username : I used to chat a LOT on IRC, and when you get disconnected for some odd reason, the quit message is often "Read error <number> : <description>".
Avatar : What did we often get with floppies ? (did because who still use floppies?)
forgedsteel 11-10-2004, 04:50 AM Trivium.. thanx for the compliment!
I specialise in "strange" portraits (I don't even remember how I got into it) and have monstered up a lot of my family, friends and workmates. But I do have a gentler side and I do the nice stuff as well. :chuckle: If anyone is really stuck for an avatar but has an idea what they want, send me a message. If you want an idea of what I can do, just flitter on over to here... http://steel.gfoto.com/. It's only a small gallery for now but I'll fill it out soon enough. I am a free service but I reserve the right to choose my projects. :D
MasterChief777 11-11-2004, 09:07 AM I was trying to think of a name to use, and then the main character of a game I was playing at the time came to mind. I can't remember why I added the 777 to it anymore. My avatar is a picture of Master Chief from Halo.
