Manifest in resource file

when u add the manifest file as a resource does it need to be called AppName.exe.manifest ? or can u name it anything u want?

when i add it as a resource and i create an exe, but the exe wont run, when i try to run it i get an error sound, but no error message.

whats wrong with this?
