put a shape in a window

I wish to start writing an app that allows to put some shapes on a window and link them with some kind of line: (think to rational rose or ms visio: you choose the shape and you put it on the window with a click).
Can anyone give me some suggestion about the kind of vb controls that i should use as "shapes" and as "background" (the window i put shapes into).

p.s. my app wants to be a "raw" app :-)

How about Shape controls and the form?

You might want to draw the lines yourself. The boxes benefit from the shape control being able to radius the corners, etc, but the lines will be a) plentiful and b) need precise positioning, something that takes a lot of code for line shapes and less for drawing the lines manually.
