Writing "Skinnable" applications.

I'm writing a few chat programs...and it would be cool if people could customize the interface.

Is there anything I should do to make my program more skinnable?

One of my OLD programs I made it possible to change all of the colors of stuff...but it was a huge pain. Required saving all the vb values in a .ini file. And the program I wrote to manage this was even worse.

Anyway...any pointers?

Has a active x dll (with source) called neocaption.
The latest version is in the new beta version of the site. its called neocaption 2 (suprise).

Its very cool, a little hard to make skins for at first, but once you get to know it its really easy.
