Listview - prevent changes in column

in a listview, is there a way to prevent a column from being altered? Every once in a while, not all the time, the first column in my listview can be altered. i do not want to disable the table because i want a user to select a row. Any suggestions?

If by "altered" you mean it allows you to edit what is in the list view, then you can set the LabelEdit property to lvwManual.
