DHCP and VB

Would it be possible to create a dhcp type server app using VB, for times when we are gaming and no one thought to bring a server?

the esiest way would be to run a server os like w2k-server and install dhcp service on it. if you really intend to create your own DHCP server you'll have to do a lot of research about dynamic host configuration protocol. you'll need the ports involved and an expalnation about the dhcp "protocol" it self. another way of assigning IP's would be BOOTP. if you are no willing to spend a rough amount of time go for the server solution. BTW why don't you use autoconfig for your IP's as soon as your machines are on a network without DHCP server they are supposed to give themselves IP's in a particular range that is known to all MS OS after w95.
