The book I own is Sam's Teach Yourself Game Programming with Visual Basic 6 in 21 Days. It has GREAT information on programming everything from simple text games, to card games, to RPG's. Good focus on DirectX and teaches you some basic drawing techniques for the ones of us who can't draw a line. The author says the reason he added the how-to-draw section is because most programmers are as good with drawing as chimps are with paint cans images/icons/smile.gif. I hope this helps you.

Thanx for the reply. Yes I saw the book on amazon.com but I was wondering wether it was good or not. I'll check out the book now. BY the way I am a very good artist and love sketching.

If you are very serious about making games, this book will teach you how. It assumes a bit of knowledge about you, so you can't know nothing about VB. It starts off slow but picks up speed. About the drawings, I have no doubts you can do it for yourself, but programming games from this book, unlike many other programs, takes a whole lot of time and organization. If you are willing to spend a few weeks, you should be able to learn a lot about game programming.

Well, Sam's actually has dozens and dozens of books on all topics of the computer, from our friend, VB to C++ to using the computer itself. I think there are only 6 or so books on VB, they range from teaching you the basics to SQL and Databases. I'm not sure about all the books. Hope this helps
