retrieving workgroup name from eithernet conntection and changing in local machine

I am trying to have my local machine retrieve the workgroup name from the connection of the network card and then changing it in the registy then restart.

this way when ever i am connected to different computers (one on one) i will have the same workgroup name.

any one?
