I came across a web page saying there is a free download for a lite version of Visual Basic. Is there anyone knowing this?

The lite version (I suppose it is a Microsoft offer but I can't find it anymore) has everything but not database function, if I have not been mistaken.

My idea is to install it for my son using it at home.

You might be talking about the VB5 control creation edition.....

It is a free download, but it has some severe limitations as a learning tool; for one thing, there is no help file...

It also cannot make EXE programs but it can make activeX controls.

I think a better deal is to look around on e-bay for a full featured edition. I'd recommend the professional edition but then, I do this for a living....

I have Profession, but as you know I'm only a newbie....and the guy who sold it to me said the Learing Edition is crap, but I don't really know.
