Excel Add-ins

I have just been lucky enough to take over a project from an employee who left the company a few months ago. Well guess what, he created an .xla file to run with our quote program in excel, and no one has the password.

I am pretty sure I know the answer to my question, tough luck start from scratch. But I though someone might have an idea of how I can salvage all that work?

Thanks for any ideas.

If it's an earlier version of Excel, you can search the web for code-breakers. If it's 97 or above I think your screwed.

Is the spreadsheet standalone? I once found an access password by looking at a compiled program that had to open the database. You have to do a hex dump looking for embeded text.
