I can download and install the .cab application without problem on some win2k clients but couldn't even get .cab files downloaded on other win2k clients. The ?error....log file in Temporary Internet Files directory is 0 bytes so didn't tell me anything useful about what's wrong. Could some one have the same problem and help me understand. It seems to me the problems are on the client side since some clients work. All our IEs are at 6.0 level but with different subversion or SP. Thanks!

Possibly the security settings in some are higher than others?

I have checked all the internet options on the working and non-working client and they are all at medium level. One thing I foud out yesterday and today if I logged on with either administrator or power user, the client worked and then if I logged on with a regular id again on the same client (which did not work before), the subsequent request to the application worked too. This is really strange. Though I can get around this problem by doing the above, I need to find out a good answer about why regular id didn't work for the future update of the .cab files.
Thanks! Any thoughts?

The problem is fixed by giving user the necessary right (Modify acess in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE in registry). Please refer to the following:
Urlmon.dll will check to determine whether the users have right to modify HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE in the registry. If not, it will abort the download.
