extracting Source codes

Is there a way i can extract the soiurce codes from a program thats already a .exe.. if there is a way then i would really want to know.. i want to use a source code that i once had to make a version 2 out of it.. the problem is i ont have the codes.. i have long deleted them.. but if ther is a way. If you have lost/deleted the code, so rewrite it. You have to pay the price for it.
