Is using animated gifs possible?

I was wondering if using gif files in my game as animation
like is there a way to have them animate like they do in webpages on vb?

Two possibilities:

1) use a program like paintshop to extract the individual gifs, then put them in some kind of array or maybe an imagelist control and animate them yourself

2) use some kind of animated GIF control. I think the INET control can do it, but it's a bit much for this kind of thing (it's essentially a complete browser). Do a web search for one, <a href="http://members.nbci.com/MAX_MOSER/"> Here</a> is one example, but there are probably others...
