hi
every time i go to add a component, it doesn't seem to matter which one, VB just closes. Doesn't ask to save, nothing, just disappears.

i'm trying to add the MAPI component, but it keeps closing everytime i hit OK or Apply.
Has anyone had this or know whats wrong with it?
How do i cure it?
I would reinstall, but network manager is off so i dont have permission and i need to do this, this week.

Help me please
thanks

Are you trying to do this from an existing project or a new one? Or does
it do it either way? Have you tried to browse to some standard .ocx file
and add it that way? Are you doing any subclassing? There isn't much
info in this post to go on so everything is just a guess.

i tried doing what you suggested.

it crashes on new projects and existing projects.
it crashes when adding components by browsing.
it crashes if you add multiple components.
it crashes if you add single components.

it just crashes no matter what.

i have no idea whats up with it. it was doing it last week, but somehow i managed to get a component added and didn't have to worry about it until now. I've got all the code done, i just need to add the component.

thanks

It does sound like a serious problem. If you knew what you were doing,
you could edit the .vbp file with notepad to include a reference to the
component then try to open it with VB.

i just tried doing what you suggested.
i found some example code on the net and copied the line relating to MAPI out of it.
i out it in my project file and saved it.
when i start the project it opens and instantly closes. So maybe my OCX files are corrupt or something. Any ideas how to fix it?
