drawing polygons

Hi,

I have built an application which draws a profile of a item and gives its dimensions when it is run through a scanner in realtime.The problem is i can't seem to get different shades on polygons which is how i draw the points on the item.
Is there anyone out there who knows a little about graphics as this would just finish off my application brilliantly.
