Default AdRotator - Record number of times displayed

I've not delved into the AdRotator in too much detail and admittedly and I wasn't able to find examples in a quick search of Google. Is there anyway to record when an ad is displayed, more specifically be able to tell a customer their ad was displayed x number of times this week, month, etc. It seems like it should be doable and would be a nice feature to give the customer. Any ideas? or samples? TIA

Hi youngsc,

Yes, what you are looking for is "do-able". One solution is to pull the particular ad through a seperate web-page. The web-page itself would identify what image is being requested, keep track of the request, then send (to the user) the specific image.

For example, one image link might be:
Code:
http://www.someaddress.com/GenerateAd.aspx?id=123
OnLoad of the GenerateAd.aspx page, you would identify the proper ID value, track the request in a database (time stamp, requesting IP address, etc.), then retrieve the image. You send the image to the user (through the page) by changing the Page's Response:
Code:
Response.Clear()
Response.ContentType = "image/jpeg"
Dim oImg As New System.Drawing.Bitmap("c:\image.jpg")
oImg.Save(Response.OutputStream, System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Jpeg)
Response.Flush()
oImg.Dispose()

This above example was pulled from my head, sorry for any mistakes. But I do hope it helps point you into a direction. Post back if you have any more questions.
