Default AJAX Rating - Updating DB

Hey all, I'm looking for a snippet that will allow me to save the rating to the database. I've figured out how to grab the current value as the current rating but have found nothing on updating. I should add there are a ton of half samples that either don't work, are incomplete or the wrong language. Does anyone here have something that they've used to update their database? Or at the very least some pointers on where to go or what to do. It would be helpful

I see a lot of people have looked but no replies. The item I forgot to mention is that the ajax rating is inside a listview. So the question becomes how do I access the control's properties inside there? I've tried just about every event to see if the changing of the rating would fire them and it didn't. I also tried finding the control through code however it's not seeing it. Any help would be appreciated.

Default star rating system

This is usually a sign that you have asked the question in a way that was maybe a bit awkward.

The other (possible) reason is that you showed no code of you're own and when you said

..you failed to cite anything directly -- leaving forum members scratching their heads and maybe not wanting to guess wrong and look stupid..

For instance, say you had said you just wanted a way to do star rating just using ASP.Net and Ajax (but not necessarily VB.Net).
If so there are some examples out there like:
Rating Demystified: Ajax Way, Amazon Way or ASP.Net AJAX Star Rating Control or even this ASP.Net Ajax Toolkit sample (Note: this a link to download the Ajax Control Toolkit off this page and you can see thw rating control properties on this page).

However the only VB.Net code I found connect with Ajax and ASP.Net is used with this rating control.

Sort of along the same lines of what I think (maybe) you are trying to do is this thread which talks about having a Ratings Control inside a ListView control and access the data programmatically (although it mixes C# code, instead of VB.Net, with the ASP.Net code).

Anyway, I posted this just in hopes of "clarifying" what you are looking for (and because I hate to see people posting multiple times with no replies).

Thanks? If I quoted every sample I found I would have exceeded the 10k character limit. Further I replied to my post to add additional details in hopes it would allow someone to assist me better. I found those code samples but as I clarified in my second post my problem is that its in a listview making it more difficult to capture the rating changed event, at least difficult to me. I also am already using the ajax toolkit and know how to use the rating system again the caveat is that its in a listview. Got examples for that?

Default ASP.Net Start Rating Control inside Listview control

I did some further research but didn't find any complete code examples of what you are trying to do (and only a handful of other people asking questions about using this part particular type of control nesting in other forums).

Here is one thread where the clientIdMode was set to static and the advice given was:
Quote:
Why do you set the clientIdMode static? It Doesn't help you determine which rating control was clicked. Instead of static, set it to predictable, and use ClientIDRowSuffix property on ListView to name the controls with a data bound column so you can find out which control was clicked on ratingChanged event.
Maybe other forum members can help out, because that's all I found.

Thank you. I can't believe this hasn't been done before for there to be any complete code examples. It seems like I've seen it before just nowhere I can seem to find now. Unfortunately I don't have a deep knowledge of the inner workings to know what I need to do. I guess I can look at other options or scrap the rating idea. Thanks again.
