Default How to determine if the webservice being consumed failed during request or response?

with HTTPRequest and HTTPResponse its clear where the error occurred since it's a 2 separate call, but how do you check if you are consuming the webservice by using ADD WEBREFERENCES, is there a way to determine if it failed during request or response?

anyone?

The web service client that is generated when you add a reference to a web service will throw an exception when the web service throws an exception.

Code:
dim client = new YourWebserviceClient()
Try
 client.YourWebserviceMethod()
Catch
 ' an error happened
End Try

thanks Qua, tho it doesn't specifically say if it fails on a request or a response

i guess i just need to keep following what i have set
- any connection error or SOAPFault exceptions relates to request
- and any timeout error is raised during response

was wondering if there is something else that i can check

Which exceptions you should be aware of is easily testable. Create your own service, and then access it through a test client. See what happens when you try to access it when it's shut off, and see what happens when you make the exception throw an error.
