Cool Data transmission in client server application

Hi friends,

I am doing a simple project in vb for my learning purpose.. In tat project i am using a client and a server. Server has to send some random values and it wil be displayed in client grid and a live chat application also created for client and server. I did all the above... But now the prob is Server send both the datas in a single way.. so that random values displaying in client chatting..

I dont know how to separate the datas... random values should display and at the same time chatting also should takes place.. i am in learning level.. so give some ideas to solve this...

Seems like you will have to bundle up any data sent from one side to the other into packages. As part of the package you attach a label that identifies the type of information in the package. From the description you gave above you may have two types of these packages with one labeled with a code that denotes "random grid data" and the other that specifies "chat data". On the receiving end you have to change your code so that it will always expect to receive data in the packages instead of the free form you had before. The receiver end would get the packages and then would read the label to see what type of data is in each one so as to know how to route and display it.
