Default Poker Hand Evaluation

I'm currently building a texas holdem poker game, but I'm having some trouble in evaluating the winning hand (quite crucial lol)

I figured I wouldn't be able to work it out for myself, so I started looking around on the net. I found a few places with some guidance, but it was more aimed at 5 card evaluation.

I just need something simple, does anyone know where to look? :\

Evaluating hands is the most important feature of any poker program. Often you'll be doing either exhaustive search and monte carlo simulation where you'll need to evaluate thousands or millions of hands. If your need happens to require real time, then it's important that your evaluator can run extremely fast.

I suggest you take a look at this article (and perhaps the whole bunch of article all discussing various concerns when developing poker software) which rounds up a lot of the most popular evaluators at the moment.

It feel that it should be pointed out that while PokerSource isnt the fastest around, one of the reasons it isnt is because its a highly generic evaluator. Good not only for 5-card and 7-card poker games, but also good for any number of cards. It is also light on memory usage, while the "fastest" evaluators use extremely large amounts of memory.
