Default brick breaker game

this has been bothering me and its really difficult and i know it might seem easy. How do you get the ball to bounce off the borders of the program. this has been killing me. by the borders i mean the left, right, and top of the screen and also is it the same code for bouncing the ball of the picture boxes. Can anyone give me an example

Okay, the keywords you are looking for are vb6 collision detection when you use your friends (yahoo, google, ask, answers, bing) and I am going to ask for this thread to be moved to the vb game forum.

Good Luck

I presume you are using VB6 and not VB.NET?

Keep in mind this is not a code handout site. However, attached is a VB6 pong example my son and I worked on for only a few hours. It is not very good (I'm not really very interested in game programming), but some of the code for border collision has some small documentation. You'll have to puzzle out the rest.

If you have further questions, please show us the section of code from your project that you are having trouble with.

Welcome to the forum.

Default Breakout game

Cerian Knight is right that this is not a code handout site, but the title of the first post in this thread leads me to believe that africaano might be looking to design a clone of the old Breakout game (or it's variant sometimes called Arkanoid) instead of a Pong game.

Of course probably most programmers have done versions of this game using basic VB controls when they first start out (before doing better versions using DirectX).

I called mine "Breakout_Clone37" and it was one of the first games I did using VB so long ago it actually used multiple timers (what was I thinking).

Anyway I should have deleted it long ago but since its still taking up space on my hard drive I might as well post it in regard to "code for border collision".

Of course there are many other examples attached to different posts on the forum.
If you do a search you might find some examples (like these):
