Default Over my head??

Hi all!

I have an idea for an online card game....it's a 2 player game but I want to eventually integrate it to a website where a bunch of people can play at the same time....you come in to the site...you wait until someone clicks on your name or you click someone who is waiting...you play a game or 2 against each other and you can chat at the same time....when you are done, you can go back to the lobby and start over again.....

I have other plans for it as well....but I need to know if anyone thinks this is possible with VB...or should I try something like this in Flash or JAVA?......I have some of the game working now....it's still got a ways to go before I'm on to the above mentioned idea but I don't wanna be banging my head against a wall here for nothin'!!

Thanks!!

Default Your choice

Here's a start, I recently did a winsock tcp/ip sample here:

[VB6 and API] - learning mutliplayer games

It is possible to make this, but really it's your choice.

In short: It is not possible to develop this as a web application using VB 6. Visual Basic 6 is mainly a language used for desktop applications. There are other languages / runtimes better suited for web development.

I would suggest implementing this in Flash or Silverlight if you ever want to see it run on a web site.

Default Ah!

I guess I misunderstood. I was thinking how a lot of the servers do it. They have you install a program from their web site to connect to their server (lobby chat, place to host games, etc). Stud Budgie seems to want it straight inside the site. Yea I totally agree with Qua.

Thanks much, folks!....I was almost positive that it couldn't be done....at least not without a mountain of headaches, anyway......
