Default [VB6] - about games


the games can be carategories by these:

multiplayer or not and:

maze: pacman, cheese, bomberman...

isometric: age of empires, starwars, starcraft...

platform: sonic, mario...

and both can be 3D or 2D. i'm correct?

o found the information that i wanted: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_game_genres

now i need understand 1 collision against a wall... heres how i do:
1 - like normaly, the player moves(sometimes to wall in);
2 - the player moves(automatic) to inversed direction;
3 - the actual direction is blocked(for don't move again to the wall);
4 - after a new movement, the blocked direction is unblocked.
the point 2 is, in normal game, used?

so what is this post about anyways? do you not know the collision code? or you trying to get a sticky for this, so heaps of people will see it?

above is the Collision Function which is very handy to use in all sorts of games...

but for how you want it, being automatic you could have it on a timer which could activate from a keydown, and since im not kn
knowledgeable enough, when it hits a certain wall just change it to say

XDir = 30

picMe.left = picMe.left + XDir
If Collision(picMe, PicWall) Then
picMe.Left = picMe.Left - XDir
then hopefully even if it hits the wall on the other side being a minus as it is already should turn it into a plus and vis versa..

also with not much information about it, like is it kinda like pacman, or is it like if a ball hit the wall, and direction?

i have my own collision function(even the NotCollision that can tell you the distance between player and the next object)(i create the Sprite2D control)
but continue... the question was resolved... but think in these way
speed=5
distance between player\pacman and wall=4
if you move, the pacman enter in wall. and my effect is make move it back... what isn't correct. then how resolve it?
simple... using the NotCollision event that can tell you the distance between player and the wall, you just move it until before collide with wall.
but thanks for the help
