Default Battle Sounds

hello folks.
my game is moving along nicely.

I need to add battle sounds.
I was hoping to produce or lift the sounds similar to Ultima 3.
These are beeps or notes played by the dos computers.

I've downloaded some WAVs off the internet but nothing is perfect.

surprisingly I don't see any software to produce notes and control frequency

Have you looked into PlaySound (or older sndPlaySound) API or using midi? There should be lots of examples of each on this board.

Although it is for .NET, I like the midi step-by-step done here, as it helps with theory required for implementation in VB6:

I ended up recording and clipping sounds from Ultima 3 and some other WAVs.
it's hard to believe there isn't any kind of noise generators for game making
