Question File Versions to Distribute

I am getting closer (slowly) to releasing my application and my latest worry is over versions!

If anybody wants to know how to find out the version of the file they are using there is some code here that does it (but you need to comment out the line: MsgBox "No version available for this file", vbInformation). I have provided a zip file below which hopefully will work. Maybe there is an easier way?

http://www.planet-source-code.com/vb...=4976&lngWId=1

The files that Advanced Controller is suggesting I distribute are as in the screenshot below. I will NOT be distributing scrrun.dll (see my previous post in this section for comments from dilettante re this)

I had rather taken it for granted that I should download the latest versions of various ocx files but when I started searching I found adverse comment regarding the latest version of the winsock control, MSWINSCK.OCX, namely 6.1.98.13 eg see comment from dilettante here:

http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=1546795

So:

1. General question re versions to distribute?

2. Is it necessary to distribute the Type Library file (TLB)?

3. Best place to get latest versions?

Thanks in anticipation
Bob

For the libraries provided with VB6 I believe it is safest to use the ones Microsoft provides for redistribution, i.e. the ones contained in the provided Merge Modules.

Merge Modules for Service Pack 6 for Visual Basic 6.0 and Visual C++ 6.0
