Default windows 10 install

Trying to install VB6 on a new Win10 64 bit SurfacePro IE7 tablet. My last effort was to copy all of the VB6 CD onto the tablet to run the setup. Setup runs normally but at the end when you get the "updating the system" box it stops at that point. I waited 30 min with no change. Did this all twice with Windows Defender OFF. When I finally delete the installation window I get the "installation failed" report.
Running VB6 A simple hello world app runs OK but more complex such as some supplied with VB6 crash. Trying to add sysinfo.ocs as a component crashes VB6. Complex software written with VB6 executes correctly.
Trying to run the SP3 setup fails. Again I am running the SP3 setup from the files that I copied to the tablet from the CD.

I finally got SP3 to install after installing MSDN Visual Studio 6. But VB still not work with any advanced code. Even the supplied "DataProject.vbp" crashes VB6 when loaded.

I haven't installed VB6 on Win10 yet, but normally I would recommend installing SP6, instead of SP3, once VB6 is installed.

Isee "Mr. Head" at that link is still giving the poor advice:

Quote:
In the new VB6 Properties window, place a tick mark in the Run this program in compatibility mode for: checkbox, and select Windows XP (Service Pack 3) from the drop down.
You do not need this and really don't want this.

I also agree SP3 is pointless, considering the vast number of fixes that were added in later service packs.
