Default mouse events in directx and screen size.?

well im using directx but i want to make it so that the mouse cursor is replaced by a sprite of my own choosing. how do i get the current location of the mouse on the screen and detect a mouse click?

and my second question is how do i retrieve the width and height of the directx screen that is being drawn on ?

well i figured out that you can type in cursor.position to get the position of the cursor. so i make the sprite position equal that but it doesnt work since the cursor position is based on the screen and the position of my sprite is based on just the current window. how do i fix this? and how do i detect a mouse click event ?
