Does anyone know if microsoft ever plans to bring back managed DX for the new windows or is XNA your only choice now ? :D

Just an update. OK I did fing one very interesting thing. It's called slimDX basically managed DX reborn. Pretty cool stuff

I suggest you read this question and the corrosponding answers. It explains pretty well what the current situation is, and what the alternatives to MDX are.

I've experimented a little with XNA. It does some amazing stuff , but with a few down sides. One being you lose control over lower level objects , two being that you can't actually make Xbox games without purchasing a subscription to there game community. Slim DX seems like a better choice for what I'm looking for at the moment. However I haven't had much time to test it out so I don't know yet. :D
