Question Thought this is funny

I work in loan software department of a bank, and today some1 was trying to explain to different rates things depreciate.... And it struck me funny when he was explaining the depreciation of a particular loan, the loan was for a chicken farm, he stated that, "And Everyone Knows That Chicken Farms Depreciate Faster Than 80% of Our Other Busines Loans!" So I am just kinda wondering, you guys are like me.. tech, programmers.. did u know that chicken farms depreciate 80% faster than other businesses?

Well duh!

its like Title 14, Section 1211 of the Code of Federal Regulations,
implemented on July 16, 1969, makes it illegal for U.S. citizens to have any contact
with extraterrestrials or their vehicles.

don't they teach this stuff in school anymore?

From 14 CFR 5 1211.101

"S1211.101 Applicability.
The provisions of this part apply to all NASA manned and unmanned space missions which land on or come within the atmospheric envelope of a celestial body and return to Earth."

Just because 14 CFR 5 Part 1211 is called "Extraterrestrial exposure" doesn't mean it has to do with aliens. Furthermore part 1211 of chapter 5 was removed in 1991.

Well that’s cool, so according to the government I can call any extraterrestrial provided it does not work for NASA , it is not a time traveler (and therefore possibly subject to the laws prior to 1991), and provided it did not invest in terrestrial chicken farming and can therefore still afford its phone bill.

I think we should call Marvin and see what the depreciation rate is for Martian chicken facilities.

I'll have to call my Verizon rep and see if Mars is "In"

so what ur saying is... That chicken farms depreciate faster bc they come in contact with a NASA entity in space therfore is subject to federal penalties like a gradual reduction in the its total overall worth?

One of the other posts here asks what the non-programming world thinks of programmers. Lots of stereo-types that everyone laughs at.
Then, there are two people here who:
a) know of the existence of Title 14, Chapter 5, Section 1211
and
b) know that Section 1211 was repealed in 1991

Stereo-types anyone?

That's hilarious!!!

Cheers,

Paul

Tinfoil hats have been proven to not work against the mind control rays, anyway. If you're a true enthusiast like me, you wear your one-inch-thick-lead cap. It DOES tend to be less comfortable, however.

Sadly this is true. MIT did a study on tinfoil hats and their effectiveness.

I have this picture in my mind of you sitting there typing that with a one-inch-thick-lead cap on your head and on the far left side of your desk lies a tinfoil hat with a sign that says "Disproven".

I am personally of the opinion that the whole metallic hat thing was started by “THEM” to serve as an antenna and therefore provide better reception of my innermost thoughts.

You need an insulating substance, not conductive.

I therefore prefer a hat, full mask rather of black oiled latex vaguely resembling an old WWII gas mask…

Wait maybe that is for another problem I have.

So many can’t keep them all straight sometimes.

A few days ago I saw a bumper sticker:

Rockoon said that's it's summer time. Obviously he's in the southern hemisphere where hats without a chinstrap fall off your head (because you're upside-down). So a heavy lead hat will strangle you!
