HOw to read EDID info from the attached monitor through VB 6.0 ?

I am developing a VB application in which i need to know the native resolution of the monitor and not the one set by the user(current resolution). So i need to read the EDID (extended display identification data) directly from the monitor. If there is any other way to know the native resolution...kindly suggest.
