Someone picked up one of the new
LG BH14NS40 quad layer blu-ray 14X writable
drives for me today (they were on sale at Fry's).
Any info (or even rumors) on when some actual quad layer BDXL discs
are going to be available in the U.S.?
Note: I know they are not going to be cheap..
Amazon marketplace has at least
one seller for "Tripple" layer BDXL disks
(some of which cost less than $100.00).
This raises an obvious question..
I know that existing PS3 Btu-ray drives don't have powerful enough lasers
to support the BDXL standard but do you think they'll ever be an
upgrade kit (from Sony or 3rd party)?
There are
rumors that the PlayStation 4 (codenamed "Orbis" will include
a BDXL drive but who knows when that will eventually be released..
I know there are ways to build both Windows live boot recovery disks and usb boot sticks,
but it would be interesting to try and try and build a more complete Windows live boot disk.
The one I built using dual layered 50GB blu-ray disk, (
coming down in price),
still lack some features of a fully formed
Windows programming workstation environment.
