Default DBGrid Question

I have taken over another persons vb6 project. On a form it uses a DBGrid bound to an access database.

If a new record is added to the DBGrid it gets updated to the database and shows in the DBGrid with no trouble. But after adding the new record the DBGrid seems to be locked from deleting any other record shown in the grid..
When the user adds a new record and saves it a .UpdateRecord and a .Refresh takes place. It is after this that if a user clicks on another record in the DBGrid and presses Delete to delete it that nothing happens unless the form with the DBGrid is closed and reopened or the user click in the last row of the DBGrid as if they were going to enter another record. after doing either then they are able to delete other records shown.

Is this normal operation for the DBGrid control or how can I get around this?

I have Allow Updates and Allow deletions selected in the properties.

TIA
Rick
