Seting Recods via Functions

I am having problems with some code that has a record like

Private Type ArrayRec
Words() As String * 50’A dynamic array
Size As Integer
End Type

A Var created like

Dim alsoToRec As ArrayRec

These bits work fine but when I set alsoToRec with a function like

alsoToRec = createRec(Appoint.AlsoTo)

using the function

Private Function createRec(ByVal Words As String) As ArrayRec

‘ bla bla bla

End Function

It complains that is not methods of object and wont even go into the function

Anyone got any ideas on what I am doing wrong?
